Treat your kids to some of the best fun activities in jakarta !

Dunia Fantasi

Jakarta’s very own theme park, Dunia Fantasi, can be found up in the Ancol area of town, on the city’s north coast. With over forty rides and attractions, the amusement park is popular with families the length and breadth of the city, and indeed the whole country.
Ride the Halilintar rollercoaster or the Niagara flume ride for some high adrenaline fun. Alternatively, the little ones can enjoy tripping through the Istana Boneka (Dolls’ Palace) or watch the Balada Kera monkey show for some great laughs.

Golf

Jakarta parents who enjoy a relaxing round of golf can also give their children a taste of the great game and junior golf facilities can be found all over town. Many driving ranges and golf courses offer junior areas which are both healthy and fun and are well worth a bit of a weekend session!

Ice SKATING

The Sky Rink at Taman Anggrek Mall should eventually put a smile on the children’s faces after a few laps clinging to the side for dear life. You’re bound to take a few tumbles at first however an afternoon of skating offers something a little out of the ordinary and makes for a fun family outing.

KIDZANIA

Kidzania, which you’ll find on the top floor of the cavernous Pacific Place shopping mall, is a theme park for the kids and the theme is…real life itself!!! Designed to resemble a small town complete with a television station, a hospital, a beauty salon, a fire station, a bank and plenty more besides, the kids can earn play money at these pretend places and even withdraw it from Kidzania’s junior ATMs. There’s plenty to see and do down at Kidzania and the little ones should have a wail of a time trying their hands at various occupations and enjoying all of the amenities that this junior city has to offer.
Kidzania also aims to be educational as well however and hopefully children can learn and have fun at the same time. Costumes are readily available to make the play acting even more realistic and friendly adults are also on hand to look after and guide the really young ones around this mini metropolis.

Monas

Why not drive the kids down to Indonesia’s National Monument for a Sunday stroll and take in a bit of history to boot? Monas stands an impressive 132 metres tall and visitors are welcome to take the lift all the way up to the viewing deck at the top for some stunning views of Jakarta (smog permitting!) Afterwards, take a spin around the history museum in the basement before heading out into the renovated Monas park for a relaxing lie down on the grass or a kite flying session.

TMII

Jakarta’s legendary Taman Mini Indonesia Indah remains a strong draw for families with kids to entertain. Taman Mini is basically a miniature version of Indonesia itself and is packed with examples of the country’s diverse ethnic cultures. There’s also a map of Indonesia created out of a lake of islands. A train runs around the park and there’s a science museum, a bird park, an IMAX theatre running spectacular panoramic movies and even a cable car. A great family day out.

Taman Safari

Drive down the toll road to Bogor and pay a visit to Taman Safari to see some impressive wild animals in their natural habitats. Only about an hour away from Jakarta, Taman Safari has a collection of more than a thousand animals from all over the world! Taman Safari also runs a Night Safari experience in the evenings, so plan for a whole day of activity!

WATERBOM JAKARTA

For some wet fun, head to Waterbom Jakarta, the sister park of the original and well known Waterbom Bali. The Jakarta park covers an area of about 35,000m2 and, thankfully, has a very large carpark. There are 19 world class water slides to enjoy and these wet and wild attractions include The Hairpin, Aquatube, Speed Slide, Bomblazter and many others.
The Bomblazter water playground is tremendous fun for the kids whilst parents can test their nerve on the frankly terrifying Speed Slide. This 20 metre high monster will shoot you down at an adrenaline pumping 70 kilometres per hour.
Another favourite attraction is The Hairpin, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, which offers families a 20 metre high, scream inducing rafting cascade strapped into a four person raft. So head down for a splash around!
