Jewels of Indonesia

Island Jewels is a very young 'Made-in-Indonesia' brand of sterling silver and stone jewelry. They recently participated in the Hong Kong Jewelry Fair, one of the world's largest jewelry fairs, at the behest of the Indonesian Government. There were nearly 2000 participants from all
over the world and about 40,000 visitors.

According to the Department of Small Scale Industries the reason they were invited to participate was due to our unique designs and fine workmanship as well as professional merchandising, packaging and displays. They are pleased that Island Jewels is building a value-added brand and not selling jewelry as a commodity. Most international buyers prefer to buy silver, pearl and gemstones by weight but our value addition through design and professional merchandising has been much appreciated.

jewels The response has been very encouraging. They have already secured many overseas orders including some from Australia, Holland, Italy, U.K., Hong Kong, the Philippines.

90% of the buyers loved the original art-deco and avant garde styles which have very simple lines that highlight the beauty of the Obsidian stones and are modern and chic. These styles are contemporary and fashionable, but uncommon.

Island Jewels is trying to build an Indonesian brand with world-class standards as well as support local artisans and handicrafts. Today around 20 stone cutting artisans are fully employed and around 15 silversmiths in Yogya. They also continue to support the vocational training program in the prisons of Nusa Kambangkan as it is part of our responsibility. All inclusive, over 100 people are involved in this venture.

Even though the jewelry is handcrafted, to make it suitable for international markets, Island Jewels has introduced technology and equipment like casting, anti-tarnish coatings
and Italian polishing techniques to ensure the end result of the handcrafted jewelry is excellent.

Available at SOGO, Plaza Senayan, Pasaraya Grande and the boutiques at the Four Seasons in Bali. They can also be seen at www.islandjewels.com.
